Tonya Johnson has been a federal employee for more than 16 years. She works in public affairs, which is similar to public relations. During her career, she has been a speechwriter, media spokesperson, media trainer, and worked in exhibits/marketing.
Tonya earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from N.C. State University in Raleigh, N.C. She also earned a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University.
She has been active with community outreach, both professionally and personally. In addition to serving on Nia, she volunteers in other ministries, including outreach, at Saint Paul’s Baptist Church.
Her hobbies include reading, trying new restaurants, visiting museums, attending local theatrical performances, spending time with family and friends, and playing the guitar. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
