Our name, pronounced "Nee AH", 
means 'purpose' in Swahili. 

Our Mission 

Our mission is to empower people to help themselves and others achieve wellness through awareness, education, support and advocacy.

OUR PURPOSE

Nia is a Kwanzaa principle described as making our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.

Similarly, our purpose is the rebuilding of the Greater Richmond community to its God-intended greatness.

We offer programs that focus on strengthening marriages, keeping families strong and resilient, and preventing behaviors that keep young people from reaching their fullest potential.

Health and Fitness

We help individuals achieve and maintain optimal health and wellness across their life span, with special attention given to communities suffering disproportionately from diseases.

Housing and Homeownership

We provide services designed to help people purchase, keep, and maintain their homes and their home equity. 

Work and Wealth

We provide training, programs, and services designed to help people compete and retain employment, prepare and develop careers, and recognize their life's calling.
